Here are some creative ideas from our clients to give you some inspiration on how you can best use carbon labelling.

1. Carbon Labelled Menus

Clients display our A-E carbon ratings directly on their virtual or print

menus. Visibility and clarity are critical - integrate ratings before or at the

point customers are making a decision.

Clients have also re-ordered menus from low to high emissions, with research showing this is another effective strategy to reduce emissions.

We've also created a menu template for you that you can customise. Here are some pictures for your inspiration.

2. Canteen Labelling

Buffet-style setups pose a great opportunity to combine high-level information

with more granular, ingredient-level detail. Information related to carbon emissions can be displayed via standup boards, place cards, digital screens and even info walls.

3. Loyalty & Incentive Programs

Reward members for consistently choosing low-carbon meals with discounts or loyalty points.

For instance, Downing College Cambridge offers a loyalty scheme where college members can earn a stamp for every A grade meal they buy. After 10 A grade meals, they get 1 free.

Incentive programs can centre around sustainability themed days, weeks or months - such as Meat Free Monday, Green Day, Vegan Week, Green Week, Earth Day, Earth Month, etc.

4. Comparisons

Comparisons can highlight the emissions difference between two foods, and simplify

complex concepts into engaging visuals. They are also a great way for companies to let their own voice and branding shine through. By connecting carbon ratings to real-world actions, these examples bring the data to life. These comparisons can be displayed across canteen hall screens, tables or social media.
