Here are some ideas to get you started!

Launch Announcement

  • Create a press release announcing the introduction of carbon labels on menus, explaining the initiative’s goals, benefits, and how it aligns with the university’s sustainability efforts.

  • Distribute to student newspapers, sustainability blogs, social media and national media.

Conduct a pilot program

  • Highlight any success stories from pilot programmes (e.g. one month long) where carbon-labeled menus led to significant changes in student behaviour or food choices.

Interviews & Op-Eds

  • Have key figures (university sustainability officers, catering manager or student leaders) write articles or give interviews about the impact of carbon transparency in food choices.

Highlight in University Sustainability Report

  • Ensure the initiative is included in the university’s sustainability commitments and reports.

Push for League Table Recognition

  • Position your university as a leader in university sustainability rankings by showcasing the impact of food-related carbon reductions.
