CO₂e, or carbon dioxide equivalent, is a standard unit that expresses the impact of different greenhouse gases (GHGs) in terms of the amount of CO₂ that would cause the same global warming effect.

This common metric simplifies reporting and helps capture the total climate impact of various GHGs, like methane and nitrous oxide, which have much higher warming potentials than CO₂ alone.

Using CO₂e allows organisations to present a unified emissions figure, making it easier to set reduction goals, track progress, and compare emissions consistently across industries.
